SUMMARY It was pretty warm at start time, with gusty winds coming roughly from the SW. We had 7 riders total: Richard Battles, Richard Stone, Yvonne Stemwedel, Susan Noble, Doug McKenzie(!), and Deanna McKenzie. Oh yeah, and me. I rode the course after all the riders were in, but that still counts. Again, Kathy Storin showed up and we chatted while the riders were on course. We did have one new record set today: Yvonne Stemwedel put up a new Women's record with a time of 31:00 over the 10.9 mile course, averaging 21.1 MPH. Seems like that girl knows what she's doing! Of course, the fast guy of the day was Doug McKenzie, who has sworn vengeance on this course. Deanna put up a really good time on her Raleigh for having started in the "slow spot". She didn't get passed by a single soul! That's the last time you start the lineup Deanna! This thing is a real kick. Come check it out if you're curious, and especially if you're intimidated. It's a fun bunch, very supportive, and a great way to start the weekend. Thanks everybody for sharing in the fun. We should be firing it up again next Friday. I may have a new course to introduce for that one... Cheers, Randall |
