SUMMARY
If you count Team McKenzie as a new rider, and our database does even though Deanna and Doug have both ridden the course individually, then Friday's ride marked the first time ever that we've had more new riders than not since the first Friday Night Time Trial back on May the 18th 2007! What a day it was! Despite the inopportune SSW wind, it was a tremendously fast group with the majority of riders flattening the course's rollers in under a half an hour. Newcomer Albert Dall, who is no stranger to the race of truth, demonstrated perfect roulleur form and took the field with a blistering 25:14, the third fastest clock on the course ever. Ted Simkins also made his debut rolling onto the course just minutes before his start. (Next time we'll give him some more time to collect himself. That's really not a problem.) He was disappointed despite his excellent notch placed at 26:32. Jonathan Lee had obviously somehow obtained Speed Racer's GRX engine which was too much even for him. He recovered enough from his tumble into an eight foot ditch to devastate the field Saturday on Spring Hill but was DNF at the FNTT. He's nursing some ribs and some abrasions at home. He's requested young ladies in lieu of flowers. The field was rounded out by Chris Heath, whose treasure chest of '80s-'90s cycling moda makes Falco look like Sammy Hagar, and Brian Bozeman who threw down a steep raise on his last effort. Team McKenzie set a tandem record as they joined Jeremy Bardell as the last riders charging under 30. Newcomers David Wolbeck and Mike Neal joined Randall Ray who started in the worst of the winds and Mary Wienert past the half hour while Matthew Wilson became our first duathlete, riding his bike into the ground and continuing on foot.
