SUMMARY We had an intimate group this afternoon: Newcomer Paul Stimson, and returning were Joe, Kevin, Deanna, Kimberly and Matt (who were a shoe-in for the course tandem record since they brought one), and I did the same thing on my single-speed. I ran the course ahead of time, returning with glad tidings of a gusty tailwind for the run down Dry Creek Road. Otherwise it was sunny, clear, high 80's, perfect. Richard Stone was out today on his motorcycle, but promises to be showing off his new TT rig soon. Can't wait to see it, Richard! Kevin won the day, passing the entire field in 26:46. Most of the big kids with their carbon disk wheels make the best big sound in the sprint to the finish; if you've heard it you know it. Kevin's wheel in the finishing stretch sounds different. It's the quiet sound of pure efficient power. You hear only the hiss of the tire on the pavement, rather than the complaining disk. Thanks to all for coming out. As the days get shorter we'll be modifying the schedule, probably to a weekend morning. We'd love to hear any suggestions for start times, routes, or anything else constructive. In the meantime, show up on a Friday evening with your go-fast bike! |
